We are seeking a Technical Lead to join the Platform Group’s Toolchain Team within a globally recognized retail technology organization. This team builds and maintains the platform that stitches together all micro front-end services and provides development tools for engineers across the company.
This is a critical backfill position, replacing the current Team Lead who is departing in early January. The role is urgent to fill by month-end. The Toolchain team currently has 1 FTE and 1 TL, with growth expected. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering teams, vendors, and leadership to drive technical vision and maintain seamless platform operations
Required Skills & Experience

Lead a small team of platform engineers focused on building and maintaining the toolchain infrastructure.

Serve as a bridge between multiple engineering groups to ensure efficient collaboration and platform consistency.

Manage and improve CI/CD systems (Jenkins, Azure, Gradle, Node).

Configure and support integrations with Akamai, Pivotal, and Azure environments.

Oversee gateway and micro front-end stitching using NGINX, App Gateway, and Gradle.

Provide automation and deployment support across multiple teams and environments.

Represent the Toolchain team in cross-functional meetings, resolving technical dependencies and process bottlenecks.

Contribute to the ongoing modernization of systems within a Canary deployment environment.
Desired Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation

Proven experience with Jenkins, Shell scripting, and Node.js

Hands-on with Gradle, Azure, and Akamai configuration

Strong leadership capabilities – able to guide technical direction and mentor engineers

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple technical teams

Experience interfacing with vendors and understanding technical integration requirements

Ability to balance priorities between platform stability and cross-team needs
