I am currently hiring a whole new crop of recruiters and, when this happens, I get to experience things from the Hiring Manager perspective. It's always a great reminder of what works (and what doesn't).
For Hiring Managers:

I hear a lot of managers talk about the proper way to manage people. There are many different theories on how to motivate your team in a way that makes them perform at very high levels, but everything comes down to not what you say but what you do that motivates your team to perform.

A lot of ink has been spilled explaining the virtues of social recruiting. This is for good reason. Social recruiting is a key strategy for any modern recruiter. Without a presence on social media, you’re missing a huge opportunity to find and engage with a whole new set of candidates.

About Us

We help build better businesses through innovative hiring practices.

Motion Recruitment Partners operates three recruitment-oriented companies. Two of them, Jobspring Partners and Workbridge Associates, partner with clients to fill critical technology positions in nine cities around the country.

Our third company is also our newest. Seven Step Recruiting is in the recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) business, providing high-volume, high-complexity recruitment solutions to large organizations worldwide.

Forward Thinking

All three Motion Recruitment companies believe that hiring, when done well, can be a weapon in a company’s strategic arsenal. There’s more to hiring than filling a position, or even filling thousands of them. The way the position is filled matters.

It’s an idea that goes back to our roots. Since 1989, we've worked to develop the most productive, efficient and manageable recruiting process possible. We’re innovators, never satisfied with the typical industry approach to anything we do.

Breakthrough Approach

At Motion Recruitment, teams do the recruiting. Groups of 5-6 specialists share networks and resources, applying a breadth of expertise to every search we take on.

Our teams are highly trained in recruiting’s state-of-the-art. They receive regular education in technical advancements, and in our clients' cultural and industry-driven recruitment challenges.

What's the story?
1989 Our first technology recruiting company is born.
2000 Eleven operating cities, $80 million in revenue.
2007 Seven Step Recruiting launched.
2008 Culture realigned to improve client focus.
2009 Seven Step Recruiting earns 98% satisfaction rating from first Fortune 100 client.
2009 Jobspring & Workbridge launch with clear clients first agenda.
2010 Seven Step Recruiting named IBM's official RPO partner.
2010 Family is re-named Motion Recruitment Partners. Partnership ethic set in stone.
2010 Returning clients become MRP's largest source of business for the first time.

Motion Recruitment teams keep their ears close to the ground. In all three companies, they’re well-versed in the to-the-minute hiring conditions that affect the markets they serve.

Bottom line: Motion Recruitment's recruitment teams flat-out know what they’re doing, whether they’re targeting one hire or thousands of them.

Partnership Commitment

The Great Recession has been especially unkind to the recruitment industry, and Motion Recruitment hasn't been immune to larger market forces. But for us, the ability to retrench has been a blessing in disguise.

Earlier in our history, we were a growth-oriented company, period.

The need to grow demands innovation. The growth imperative was the engine that drove us to become the most forward-thinking company in the recruitment industry. That's the great part about focusing on growth.

But there's a downside, too. Focusing on growth can limit your attention to relationships and long-term value delivery. In our case, the recession made it clear that our family wouldn’t survive without a reinvigorated focus on delivering true long-term value to our clients.

In early 2009, we took a deep breath and a long look in the mirror. By the time we came up for air, we had transformed ourselves completely. We retired six of our operating brands, as their connection to our earlier growth priorities was just too strong. In their place, we launched Jobspring Partners and Workbridge Associates, each with the explicit goal of delivering a new type of relationship-driven recruitment value. Seven Step Recruiting’s client satisfaction successes were examined carefully, and the lessons were applied across all three of our companies.

We reconfigured the DNA of our culture, overhauling our own hiring standards and creating new incentive structures to make sure that relationships were well-maintained. We redeveloped our training programs to emphasize the importance of a "clients first" mentality.

A New Approach, Set In Motion

In 2010, we renamed ourselves "Motion Recruitment Partners" to cement the fact that we had become a new, smarter, and more relationship-focused company. Today, more than a third of our business comes from long-term client relationships. And, in the lingering midst of a recession and growing unemployment, we're creating recruitment successes for our clients like never before.

(We're growing again, too!)
